Re: EuroLeague Women Transactions 2011-12
In an interview on a local Ekat TV station UMMC manager Rybakov said that the roster is almost set. They've got one roster spot open they would fill in the summer. Everyone else after the 3 additions and two subtractions should be back.

Did he say what they're planning to do with their 3 Americains concerning the EuroLeague?

Nope, the host didn't ask. He asked about whether there will be any changes in Russian Premiere League, about the coaches and if they plan to sign anyone else.

Re: EuroLeague Women Transactions 2011-12
So Sue Bird will join UMMC in January... to answer part of my previous question.

"Basically it came down to weighing where I am in my career; what was the right fit for me," said Bird, who won't join the team until January, taking time to rest after the WNBA season. "In terms of not going back (to Spartak), it was not easy. That's a place that I spent a majority of my career overseas and I'm very connected. I will always feel a part of that club the same way that Diana left last year and she'd ask how we were doing."

Milka Bjelica and Petra Ujhelyi sign with Wisla, but Yelena Leuchanka leaves Wisla.

Huh? What are the reasons that the team can't control that made them terminate the contract of Leuchanka? Is she preggers?

As for Leuchanka, she's not pregnant, after signing with Wisla she decided to play for another team.

Re: EuroLeague Women Transactions 2011-12
I guess beyond our control could be anything from pregnancy or other family business or home sickness - anythign like that.
Or if the player states - 'I want to play for the EuroLeague Women champions', or, 'I want to play in a better league' then equally those two statements are beyond Wisla's control - or, in otherwords, it maybe isn't about money which is often the case with players leaving clubs
Only a guess

Re: EuroLeague Women Transactions 2011-12
Why guess? As has been indicated two times today - teams vice-president has been quoted saying Leuchanka has got a better offer elsewhere where she wants to play and they decided to not hold a player hostage in a situation she doesn't want to be no more.

Re: EuroLeague Women Transactions 2011-12
Maybe she got an offer from a bigger or at least more attractive city, what would be very important to her. She admitted it was one of the main reasons why she left Gorzow during the last season. She was really satisfied with the decision as Krakow is much bigger city, you know, with shopping centers, night clubs, old town et caetera. What team could it be? Madrid? Prague? Moscow?
Or... Istanbul?
