Re: Eurobasket 2011 discussions
They all have 1 win right now in that group, so 2 teams will be 2-1 and the other two teams 1-2 by the end of tomorrow.

After day 2...
3 teams from group A are set. Last team from group B will be determined in the GB-Israel game. 3 teams from group C are also set. Group D has a few 'IF... THEN...' scenarios. If Latvia wins then France also qualifies - in that case Greece need a win over France to advance. If Croatia wins then Greece qualifies and France needs a win over Greece to advance.

ALL possibilities included. If France and Latvia win, then Greeks are down and Latvia finishes on the top. If France and Croatia win, then Latvia goes home and France stays on the lead. If Greece and Croatia win... as I mentioned - then France would loose its chances to defend the title and Croatia (!) would win the group. Finally, if Greece and Latvia win, then Greece takes the lead and Croatia keeps current place in the group.

Yeah, pretty sick - all four teams can win the group and all four can go home. That's what one can call a group of death.

Looks like Germany peaked in Hungary. Maybe the AQT should be held after the qualifiers not right before the tournament.

WOW, after 2009 and 2010 I truly thought so much better of Israel. This has been disappointing.
About us: I friggin' love this team - coming from 15 down and pulling off the win. This stuff makes me love womens basketball.

From what I've seen that was Russia's best quarter of the tournament.

Wow, Spain looks weak. I'm guessing going undefeated in friendly games didn't help them.

Popova did the same thing yesterday... now I'm closing my eyes when they're at the line.
Abrosimova 1st FT was long so she made sure her 2nd was short... a little too short

Wow, second halfcourt buzzer beater by Laia Palau in one game.

Can't believe it! Wow.
First three quarters were just wonderful, Poland played a very decent game today. This is a glimmer of hope. If they continue playing this way, they'll be able to make it to the quarterfinal.

Re: Eurobasket 2011 discussions
lol, judging by how many people in comments on Latvian news sites complain about something on our team you'd never know we have a good shot at the first place in our group.

All those complainers should have watched how Lithuania (which starts the next stage with two wins) played today against Slovakia, for example. Or remind Germans' performance yesterday...

Kind of sad. This, very possibly, was the final game for Maltsi and Kalentzou on the National Team.

Re: Eurobasket 2011 discussions
Well, coach Hernandez follows my opinion:D as he says that during first three quarters Poland played a great game and that it was the best game of his team so far. I totally agree;) Hahaha it's kind of funny I am so happy after a double-digits loss of my team.

Re: Eurobasket 2011 discussions
Maybe it was a great game, but I don't make ooh-aahs after a 23TO game. Especially when your opponent makes 8.
I agree - there were moments. Time in 1st when Ewka destroyed everyone on the field before she got completely exhausted. Time in 3rd, when FINALLY we managed to think out something more than "give her he damn ball". These moments give hope for the next 3 games, ut if we played so good, why couldn't we prevail against Spain so unfocused?

I'm eager for Russia - Belarus game. Abrosimova has promised to revenge their loss in the worlds last year.

Re: Eurobasket 2011 discussions
Not quite as impressive blowout against Croatia than the one by France but still very good showing by Montenegro. My biggest concern for them is how far can they go with a 6 player rotation having games every other day? If they don't break down they're my early favorites alongside France to win their quarterfinal against whoever they get to play.

Re: Eurobasket 2011 discussions
Spain threw the ball away to stop the play because of an injured player then the Spanish bench were quite upset because they expected France to give back the ball. Couldn't they call a timeout instead? I've never seen a team give back a possession like that other than in soccer.

Re: Eurobasket 2011 discussions
They can call a timeout only when there's a dead ball. This is not the NBA/WNBA.
