And so completely unnecessary. You can sometimes kind of understand these things when they happen in the heat of battle, or you swing your arms to protect the ball. BUt they were running the clock out. GB weren't even going to bother to foul. Madness.

It wasn't the first time either - Stafford took two hard hits earlier, both called unsportsmanlike fouls, and I think one of them was by Korstin. Russians got frustrated and then got angry and aggressive.

It appears that incident will be reviewed tonight after all the games are over and the result should be known by tomorrow morning.

Lithuania - France in the 1/4 finals! Totally unexpected! I think they won't make it. France is too strong for them. But... I wouldn't say same thing for Croatia. They showed some good basketball against Spain. I would like them in the semis. That would be amazing after the starting loss of 86-40 from France! 'Would be a pure sensation!

A bit unfair if you ask me. In my opinion Montenegro, France and Lithuania played the best basketball on the tournament.

Despite being Turk, Turkey surprised me either. They really don't play as good as their player quality but they progress to QF. It will be a difficult match up with Montenegro. After all, everything can be expected from the Turkish squad. For me Latvia - Russia match up will be the other hard clash. I think Lithuania and Czech Republic will pass with ease

Russian news outlets are reporting that Svetlana Abrosimova most likely won't participate in tonights contest. In other injury news Zane Tamane will be able to play after bruising her back in the last game over Montenegro.

This is women basketball and everything can happen till the end. But, as Russia played till now, Latvia will need at least 30 points in this quarter to win.

Todays matches looks very similar. Czech Republic and Russia didn't play so good, but won. Both teams wanted to win without many energy and have done it.
But the best are two fans. One from Latvia - look likes clown, and the other one from Czech Republic - look likes Santa Claus. They are awesome and one of the best fans of the tournament.

Finally have gotten more or less over yesterdays fiasco on defense. Damn I wish my original wish of playing against Belarus and their impotent outside attack would have materialized.

Aaaand Montenegro hit the wall. Shame. Hope they make to the Olys, although it will be hard - 2 more games in 2 days.

Totally predictable (and I can say that as I had Turkey by eight )

Turkey started badly and have hung around both in games and also in the tournament.

they go down but always seem to hit threes. Yilmaz starts slow and always ends up posting something good.

However I always had a sense they were a team coming together and today they played beautifully with their ball movement.

I think we had the old skool Bydgoszcz groups and the Lodz groups was about athelticism.

I think the ugly and physical Bydgoszcz teams have not used as much energy grinding out wins.

Maybe France will avoid a Bydgoscz clean sweep in the semis
