The Ros Casares 2011-12 Thread
So why not use this thread to discuss Ros Casares this season - what do you think about another big Ros revolution?

Do they have any money left for a couple of shooting guards?

Re: The Ros Casares 2011-12 Thread
Will this team be good enough to win ELW in 20102?
How much better does the team look (on paper0 than last season’s team?
How much better than the team which reached the Final in 2010?
Is the frontcourt one of the best in ELW? It looks like it.
Teams will surely play a lot of zone defence against them, do Ros still need one more specialist shooter to really make them extra dangerous?

I reckon that by 20102 they'll be dead so no. In 2012 they sure can be good enough to win, but the front runner should be a team with Diana Taurasi (I can't remember when she lost a game in ELW )

I like this years players in positions 3-5 much better, but last years guards were better. Depends who'll they sign at guard.
Paulball Nilsen wrote:How much better than the team which reached the Final in 2010?
A fair amount better in the front-court which in 2010 was better than last season. Guard situation ATM I'd call even.

I still prefer the one of Parker, Gruda, Stepanova, but this would be a close second.

Laura Macchi has been a name thrown into the Ros Casares frame....
That would add more firepower and scoring and I think complete the best Ros line-up in their history
Will it be enough for a ELW title - still not sure. We'll see

It seems to me that Laura Macchi is more of an outside shooter than a post player, although she is tall )))

Well that's what they would need. As fourth post player they're counting on Sonia Reis.

I think someone said in the press conference that the budget is the same as in 2010/11, but I'm not that sure about that.

I'm not sure about that too. But president said that they were very very lucky in some signings, and they start to move into the market transfers a lot of months ago. They were "cooking" this team quiet and carefully. And the result is awesome!!

Wow, it was Yacoubou, my joke about zone defence against them just got serious.
Seriously talented and stacked frontcourt but the team loks IMHO to be imbalanced.
Unless of course the strategy is get the ball inside and even against the zone it can still be done and we will power our way to ELW success.
I can't see it. Might be wrong but just can't see it. Palau, Dominguez afre going to have to shoot the ball really well

Offensively though, not sure she will be able to make the big plays and I am still not convinced about the balance in that team. For me, they are don't have enough of a perimeter threat of the same quality as their very stacked forward line.
Although really - this debate should be on the Ros Casares thread btw
She does that very often in national team. Offensively she's rock solid, she's always been there when it matters.
Looking at Czech national s5 from 2007 European's:
Horakova 1.82
Vesela 1.94 (10.2ppg, 5.2rpg, 29mpg)
Viteckova 1.90
Vecerova 1.94
Kulichova 1.98
2009 European's:
Bartonova 1.72
Vesela 1.94 (10.5ppg 5.8rpg, 28mpg)
Viteckova 1.90
Hartigova 1.92
Kulichova 1.98
2010 World's (8.5ppg, 7.1rpg, 27mpg) - almost same story as 2007 European's - s5 identical.
Obviously this isn't something she would like to do daily, but if the backcourt stays that weak, well, she'll step up surely.

I'd call Viteckova the 2 in both those lineups, and Vesela the 3.

People who witnessed those two tournaments claim she played SG.
It was weird to me too just to see her come to Gdynia with Brno and run after Tan White from time to time.
As I said - it's not permanent, but when needed she can do it.

Just looked at video of 2009 Spain - Czech Republic - she was guarding and being guarded by Alba Torrens not Laia Palau.

Last time I checked the 3p line is waaaaaay further from the basket internationally than it is in the NCAA. I wouldn't be surprised if she had a 3p percentage similiar to Shay Murphy - in the high twenty percents.
