Georgia Tech's Pipeline

Post  petrel on Sat Jan 01, 2011 1:27 pm

Georgia Tech University, an USian university in Atlanta, has three Swedish players on the roster. These are not the first Swedes playing for Georgia Tech. The young women are

Danielle Hamilton-Carter, whom I think played in the European youth championships
Frida Fogdemark, off the U-20 Sweden National Team
Sandra Ngoie-Hasahya, who was off a U-18 team in Sweden I believe

An entire article could be written about the process of "pipelining", or inducing young foreign players to forego playing in their home countries to play for American universities. I've seen bits and pieces of all three players. Hamilton-Carter started the last two games for Tech but looks very unsure. Fodgemark is a great 3-point shooter but hasn't mastered defense. Ngoie-Hasahya is the one I've not formed an opinion about.

Georgia Tech assistant coach is Gene Hill and he loves him some european players! He was my head coach in college back in the day.
Kent state and drexel roster is heavily european
St Joes also likes to recruit big internationally but thats susan moran's influence.
